From France to Ghent: Level 2
Every now and then, someone boards a train not for comfort, not for photos, but purely for the craft.
That is what Romain Chaudet did. Owner of the luxury barbershop L’Atelier du Barbier in France, he travelled from deep in the country to Ghent to follow Level 2 of the Scapicchio Academy at ROMAIN. Two intensive days fully dedicated to precision, discipline, and mastery.
After a brief exchange, the intention was clear. No shortcuts, no gadgets. Only steel, stone, technique, and focus.
We worked according to the traditional method. Freehand honing, full wedge razors, kamisori, and classical straight razor shaving. Strong attention was given to hygiene protocols, head shaving, and the correct execution of traditional shaving techniques.
Romain demonstrated not only technical skill, but true professional maturity. He is fully capable of honing with or without tape, works with precision, and shaves with exceptional control, down to the smallest detail, with the highest level of finesse.
During the training, he also obtained his official Novicide certification, reinforcing his expertise in sanitation, safety, and professional standards.
Romain is ready for the next step. He has the skill, discipline, and mindset required to advance to Level 3.
The next stage ( Level 3: Ambassador) takes him to Bovino, where he will undertake the official examinations, both written and hands on, in line with the Scapicchio tradition. He is now certificate official with Level 2 and also a Novicide certificate that he knows how to sanitizes as a barber!
It is an honour to mentor barbers who do not simply want to work, but who are truly committed to refining their craft.
