🇧🇪 Brussels Barber Expo 2026

By Sunday morning, the jackets were on, the razors were sharp, and the whole ROMAIN team was ready.

There’s a particular satisfaction in seeing your barbershop take shape in the middle of an exhibition hall. Your own chairs. Your own tools. A workbench a colleague helped you with. People you trust standing beside you. A little piece of home, carried to Brussels.

Getting it all there took several days of gathering equipment, organising and preparing, followed by Saturday setting everything up. Barber chairs, incidentally, are considerably more enjoyable when you’re sitting in them than when you’re moving them.

But then Sunday comes. The doors open. And you remember exactly why you do this.

A Place to Come Together

Brussels Barber Expo is one of the highlights of our year. We’ve been there since the first edition, and being part of it still means something.

That deserves a proper thank-you to Daniel and Santiago, the people behind Machette. These things happen because someone puts in the hours, takes the responsibility and gives the rest of us a place to come together. They’ve created something our region needed, and our profession is better for it.

We’re proud to play our part.

We come as a small, independent barbershop, with no investors and no big brand behind us. Our name above the stand. Our team behind the chairs. Years of work in our hands.

There’s a quiet satisfaction in that.

And every year, we grow a little. So does the stand. A colleague lends a hand. Someone brings an idea. Everyone contributes. For us, growing together has always been a very practical thing.

“Can We Learn This From You?”

There was a lot of interest this year. People stopped, watched the shaving, looked at the tools and asked questions. Some recognised things they remembered from years ago.

Certain words kept coming back.

“It’s a shame this has almost disappeared.”

“It’s good to see you bringing it back.”

And then:

“Can we learn this from you?”

That last question stays with me.

It means someone sees a place for this craft in their own future. They want to understand the razor, learn the movements and put in the practice. They want to carry it into their own barbershop and offer it to the person sitting in their chair.

That gives me a great deal of hope.

An old craft stays alive through use. Through patient hands, good teaching and people curious enough to begin. We met plenty of those people in Brussels.

So yes, I’d call that a successful day.

Good People. Good Work.

Watching my team work was another reason to be proud.

Some have worked beside me for years. Other relationships
